DCS: A-10C
Wanted to share this post a friend of mine made on the FSXBA forum, I made it a bit more my own though, enjoy!
The best simulator I've seen yet. It's a perfect, exact replica of the A-10C Warthog on your computer. For 20 bucks more than you would spend on the Iris A-10A, you get the best flight modeling, systems, and visual model... ever. Not just a simple 3rd party bomb system... a military-grade simulation of the greatest CAS aircraft of all time. From flying this with friends and working together to fly FAC, then take out tanks, AAA, and infantry advancing on friendly units using Mavericks, JDAMs, rockets, laser-guided bombs, cluster bombs, and the terrifying GAU-8. Every prodecdure, parameter just as it would be sitting in the real airplane. The type of systems modeling and programming available in this same makes PMDG add-ons look like children's toys, its thats awesome. I've haven't this much fun in a sim since Falcon 4.0's glory days. I can't fly any other simulator without wishing it flew like DCS: A-10C. I preordered it to get the beta. Here's some screens for ya:
A video is worth a million:
Oh and that's how the sim looks... it's not After Effects.
Do yourself a favor, start saving up. The learning curve is steep, and you'll want a lot of buttons, but it is hands down the most rewarding simulator I've flown in 14 years. Absolute masterpiece.

Re: DCS: A-10C
I'm not going to complain about this program one bit! Just what I do need to say is that no matter what, a PC Sim will NEVER be like the actual real thing, maybe close... But never exactly like it. Nice stuff though, and I'm looking into this myself, so maybe one day you and me can get some other guys together to make some terrorist's have their worst day ever with bad a** A-30mm Gatlin Gun knocking on their door!

Ohhh I would kill to be a real Hog driver... however DCS is going to be as close as I am ever going to come...
Let me know if you get it, there is a group of us that go up and give 'em hell on a nightly basis in the beta.
Matter of fact last night there were 3 of us, two of us in Hogs and the other as a spectator. What you can do in spectator mode now is become a Forward Air Controller, you press a key and you go into a first person mode and you have all kinds of options like laser range finder, binoculars, laser designator and smoke grenade and you can interact with the pilots and direct LGBs, spot targets, provide BDA, mark targets you name it.
So we made a mission where there was a friendly light ground force being pincered by two groups of enemy armor embedded with AAA and SAM's. We timed it so that by the time we arrived on station the battle was just starting, when we got close enough to zoom in with the targeting pod we could just see tracers going every where, TOW's tank rounds you name it, the AI was fighting it out which was just amazing to watch. We got all the enemy armor taken out fairly quickly with mavericks and JDAMs but we were having a hard time seeing the enemy infantry since we were at a couple thousand feet so we had our FAC put his laser disignator on the infantry at which point I was able to put my targeting pod into laser search mode and look for his lase point. Once I had the point I added a mark point, sent that mark point to a 1000lbs JDAM, flew the piper to the release point and well... lets just say there was no more infantry threat.
Bottom line, amazing, AMAZING simulator even in its BETA state. Even if you don't like combat, flying the airplane is just a pleasure because the advanced flight model feels soooo much like a real airplane, adverse yaw, weight and balance, it just feels right.
I've had the sim for 2 weeks now and its only been until the last couple of days where I have actually felt comfortable in a combat environment, it took me like 3 days to get the maverick procedure correct and get things targeted to actually release the weapon. Just figired out JDAMs and dumb weapons this week, LGB's are next.
Some screenshots of the damage model - If you didn't know, getting hit by AAA hurts in this game... but its a hog, it can take it
^^ Actually made it back to the field after having part of my wing taken off thanks to a SA-19, it was such a fight keeping it level on final that I landed a bit long which is why the front wheel got sheered off...

Pre-Ordering the game gives you access to the Beta.
