Re: Wings over wayne update
Just because no one has signed up yet?
The show isn't until mid-July-- so there is still plenty of time for teams to sign up and the event to be a success.
Let's hope for some volunteers!

Re: Wings over wayne update
If your air-show is taking place in the USA, I'm pretty sure that setup is illegal. I had a good talk this weekend with an old F-86 driver who now owns his own Mig-17 that he flies at airshows. He said that the aerobatic box is 500 feet in front of the crowd for normal aircraft, and 1200 for high performance aircraft. You can come in much closer than that, but you can't be doing any aerobatics. Now as for what constitutes "aerobatics", that is open for some debate, but the FAA defines it as any kind of flying that is unnecessary for normal flight. There are also restrictions concerning pointing your nose towards the crowd. For example, if you wanted to do a Banana Pass, you can come in pretty close to the crowd, but you can't have a direct vector into the crowd. However, if you were going to do a loop, a roll, or really any bank angle past 90 degrees, you need to be inside the aerobatic box.
I believe that military aerobatic teams can get FAA waivers concerning the vectors into the crowd, but Wildcat would be more current on that than I am.
Our Skyblazer's team (of which we still need a right wingman) flies an airshow that was designed in the mid fifties; so crowd safety, the FAA, and "aerobatic boxes" are a non-factor.

Re: Wings over wayne update
Yup Skyblazer's right. There has to be at least a minimum of 500 feet from the crowd for dirty and flat passes. Anything other than that depends on the maneuver like what Sky is saying.

Re: Wings over wayne update
Would It Be Possible For You Guys To Hold a Solo Position For Me As I Am Awaiting a Reply From Jimi?
Re: Wings over wayne update
Sorry Man Everything is first come first serve, I cant hold you a spot, but i will tell you that nobody so far has shown any interest in the last solo spot in the show yet, so things are looking up for you there. good luck
